About K53Buddy
K53Buddy exists for one reason: too many South Africans fail their learner’s licence test on something they could have easily studied — not because the material is hard, but because it’s scattered, outdated, or hidden behind a paywall before you’ve even seen if it’s any good.
Why we built this
Most learners preparing for their K53 test end up piecing information together from a handful of sources: an old printed manual, a few YouTube videos, maybe a friend’s memory of what the test was like. Some of that information is outdated. Some of it is just wrong. And the sites that do get it right often ask you to pay before you’ve had a real chance to see whether their content actually matches the current test.
We wanted a place where you could start immediately, for free, and judge the quality yourself before ever being asked for anything.
What’s different about K53Buddy
139 signs across warning, regulatory, information, and temporary categories — including signs several other South African sites don’t cover at all.
Our Test 1 to Test 6 structure gets progressively closer to the real exam. Test 6 mirrors it exactly — same 64 questions, same section-by-section pass marks. Pass it, and you’re genuinely ready to book.
The road signs library, the rules of the road, and a real practice test are free — no account required to start.
Every page explains why a rule exists and what mistake it usually catches, not just what the “correct” answer is.
Where to start
If you’re just beginning, the Road Signs library and Rules of the Road section cover everything the theory test draws from. If you’ve already studied and want to know where you stand, the free practice test is the fastest way to find out.
